Pablo's DEMO will highlight him, the artist, and his teaching style. You will preview how the beautiful painting techniques of the workshop will be taught.

"Come and paint with Pablo Ruben. Pablo is a very talented artist, specialized in painting outdoors. Each year, his prize list grows considerably. He is specialist in painting outdoors in large formats, he will show you how not to be intimidated by the large blank paper. Enjoy learning everything you ever wanted to know about watercolour; tricks, trade secrets, fast painting technique and effects. Your paintings will significantly improve after this course with Pablo Ruben. He will teach you, in an easy and fun way, how to paint watercolour using reference photographs and also watercolour painting outdoors. We will wait for you…

Pablo's invitation to you: In this workshop we will learn to paint two different sort of water reflections and the basics to paint an urban landscape. Each exercise will be completely explained. Participants will receive personal instruction and supervision from Pablo Ruben. Pablo teaches fluently in English, French and Spanish.

   Workshop Program
1. Introduction
  -Presentation and explanation of all the materials: easel, colors, paper and brushes.
  -Loads of pigment into the brush and the differences achieved with varied amounts of water onto the paper.
  -Combinations of brush loads and paper states.
2. First exercise will practice a big wash and gradation:
  -Landscape with calm water, puddles or lakes.
3. Second exercise: Landscape with water in motion. Learn to make waves.
4. Basic tips. How to draw and place people and cars into urban landscapes.
5. Third exercise: Easy urban landsscape with cars, people and buildings.
6. Depending on the time left over, I may make additional demonstrations.
* Paper: This is your most important part to take advantage of in the workshop, I recommend 100% cotton paper, 140lbs, and rough surface. Arches and Saunders Waterford are the most advisable.
* Brushes: 2 “Petit gris” brushes (medium and small), 2 round pointed synthetic brushes (medium and small), 1 “Hake” brush, 1 rigger brush.
* Colors: Preferably in tube. All the colors I am going to use are in my Daniel Smith Dot Card, the essential are: Ultramarine Blue, Indigo, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Teal Blue, Sepia, Pyrrol Orange, Opera Pink, Transparent Red Oxide, Buff Titanium, Hansa Yellow Deep, Titanium White and Mars Yellow. Every similar color to these ones is welcome.
* Watercolor palette, I use a metalic one, it is better than plastic ones.
* The usual accessory materials: tape, board to fix the paper, spray, little water container, pencil, ruler,…
