10:00 am - 4:30 pm

In this intensive two-day workshop, taught over two weekends, you will get experience with the beautiful art of copper etching which inspired artists such as Rembrandt, Goya, Degas, Cassatt, etc. The artists mentioned used traditional methods that included the use of highly volatile materials and often very toxic solvents.
We will work exclusively with new and safer materials. You, the artist, will be introduced to a variety of techniques ranging from beginning to advanced levels of experience. These techniques will include hard ground and soft ground etching. Various forms of tonal techniques such as acrylic aquatint, roulette and sandpaper aquatint will also be explored.
For the final project, each student will create an edition, which will result in an exchange portfolio.
