HOW to READ a COLOR WHEEL and MAKE YOUR OWN with ALICIA HARVEY

Color wheels help you think fast and verify your thoughts. They are a handy reference to check your ideas. They also spark ideas by reminding you about primary, secondary, complementary and analagous colors and palettes. That dynamic poster you saw and remember with excitement had a bold color scheme that hit you over the head, metaphorically.

Alicia has taught us lots about colors and palettes this year. This demo rounds out (no pun intended) the ideas by collecting them in the color wheel. Making your own color wheel saves lots of energy and frustration. You plan your values and colors to best convey the excitement in your mind. Such a small exercise can increase your success of translating your brain onto the canvas, the paper, the board, the side of the building. Every tiny discipline we embrace spends our energy more efficiently as painters who tell the story we intend to people who care to view and enjoy our work.
