Learn the many technical tricks to rendering light in a painting. This free demo serves as a preview for Ann's upcoming workshop where students will study the effects of light in a painting as we replicate a beautiful study of a misty and orange foggy river. In addition, we will practice painting sunlight, glowing candles, reflected light, lit lamp posts and discuss lighting still life and portraits.

Topic: We will be studying the art and techniques of Paul Jackson as shown in his book ¨Painting Spectacular Light Effects in Watercolor".
Using his book as a text, we will discuss the elements and qualities of light and how to use it to create powerful paintings that include glass, metal, water, landscapes and even candlelight and night scenes. The main painting we will be doing for the workshop will be a mysterious and warm foggy scene of a quiet lake, but there will also be time to recreate other lighting scenes.
