Pierre played a large part in developing this book on the history of Sennelier, which is a fascinating, colorful history filled with Artists from the 19th and 20th Century. Pierre will also be signing copies of this book afterwards. Come to this FREE Talk and Book Signing, 5 pm to 6 pm and hear some wonderful stories about the artists and the development of art materials for the modern age!

Sennelier – A Brief History

"In 1887, chemist Gustave Sennelier opened the doors of the Maison Sennelier on the left bank of the river Seine. For 120 years, this Paris landmark, located near the Louvre and the famed Ecole des Beaux-Arts, has been a bastion of quality, innovation and history. Artists like Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Monet, Bonnard, Soutine, Picasso, Modigliani, Kandinsky, and Dali made this place a historic rendez-vous for art materials. A place where the most celebrated names could find the finest colors available for artists.
Sennelier created unique colors and materials such as; oil paints for artists like Monet and Cezanne, who often painted in Gustave Sennelier’s garden, soft pastels for Degas which an entire range was created specially for him, or Picasso, who approached Sennelier to develop a new medium that could be applied to any surface and thus the oil pastel was born.
Sennelier truly is the benchmark of quality and innovation in the fine art world, evidenced by the Sennelier paintings that hang in the world’s most famous museums. Renowned for sustaining the traditions of the old masters, Sennelier is equally committed the modern artist. Their expertise is supposed only by their passion, a dedication that has made the Sennelier name legendary."

I have looked through this wonderful book, packed with history, photos, and stories, and I am looking forward to this talk and having Pierre sign my new copy of the book and I invite you to come to this Special Event!  ~Deborah Burns at DANIEL SMITH
