Here is our schedule for FREE Art Demos for December 2011 at the Seattle DANIEL SMITH Store. These are usually 1 hour long with the instructors demonstrating various art techniques, basic "how to" for a particular medium or how the artists do different art processes. You can learn a lot coming to these, and they are a great way to get inspired and get your creative juices flowing - for FREE!

Here is our schedule for Artist Workshops for December 2011 at the Seattle DANIEL SMITH Store. These are usually 4 to 5 hour long "Hands On" workshops with the instructors demonstrating and teaching various art techniques. You will be creating during the workshop as you learn. These workshops have a fee, a list of supplies to bring to work with, and require registration. The authors of “Make Every Day A Painting”, will share a portion of their manual on how they paint quick studies which they will use to create artful cards and gifts. They will demonstrate using watercolor ground as a base for painting on a multiple of items, photo transfers, stamping, working with various gel mediums and more.

In these 2 FREE, 1 hour demos, Che Lopez, will be demonstrating Watercolor Basics, the three basic fundamentals of watercolor:
1)  Composition
2)  Color mixing
3)  Painting light to dark.
Watercolor can be explained and learned using three techniques:

2)  Wet
3)  Color Mixing.
Che will demonstrate how he uses both of these 3 techniques from start to finish using a basic palette to draw, mix and paint. While painting, he will be sharing tips that you can use in your painting as well. Excellent demo for the beginner, and intermediate painter.

(Puget Area Paperfolding Enthusiasts Roundtable) which is part of Origami-USA.org.

Art Framing 101 with Expert Framer Anita East at this FREE demo, learn (or review) basics of assembling a frame kit, forming an art package, and securing package to a frame using a framer's point gun. Learn to install dust jacket and quality hanging hardware, and how to select quality framing materials from a conservation standpoint.

At the demo, Anita will frame 1 standard art package into Artcare Frame Package, 1 prestretched canvas into a frame.

Materials Anita will be demonstrating:
Framer's point gun and points, wood and metal frame kits, pre-cut mats and backing, Lineco tapes and glue to include frame sealing tape, rabbet foam tape, linen and paper hinging tapes, PVC glue, 3M ATG tape, acrylic sealing medium such as GAC 100, hanging hardware, Kraft Paper or acid-free backing paper, Bump-Ons, sanding block, archival quality ArtCare systems, cotton gloves, boning tool.

Additional tools and supplies Anita will be using:
Flat-tip, cross-point, needle-nose, 19.2-V, soft hammer, extra u-spring, centering tape measure, centering ruler, scissors, glass, glass cleaner, blue shop towels, spacers, wire, hardware.

This is a great introduction demo for finding out to professionally frame your art, and use the tools and supplies professional framers use and why they are used.
