February 2012 Schedule of Artist Workshops at the Seattle DANIEL SMITH Store

Here is our schedule for Artist Workshops for February 2012 at the Seattle DANIEL SMITH Store. These are usually 4 to 5 hour long "Hands On" workshops with the instructors demonstrating and teaching various art techniques. You will be creating during the workshop as you learn. These workshops have a fee, a list of supplies to bring to work with, and require registration. Please regiester early to be sure of a spot in the workshop, and to make sure workshops are not cancelled due to low enrollment. To Register, please call the Seattle Store at: 206-223-9599.

WATERCOLOR: Watercolor Simplified with Cindy Briggs & Theresa Goesling

Learn the basics of watercolor - How to put together a palette, what kind of paint, brushes and paper to use, and how to navigate the watercolor aisle. Jump start your watercolor journey with fun and easy projects designed to build confidence. Instructors will guide beginners through simple steps to better painting in an enriching and encouraging atmosphere.

WATERCOLOR: Journal Quickly and Completely with Cindy Briggs & Theresa Goesling

Compose travel journals in Watercolors. In this workshop you will learn to paint and embellish the watercolor journal before you depart...or... compose a journal form your past memories and materials. whatever you decide, you will be prepared to paint wherever your desires of travels take you to.

"Experience the contagious enthusiasm and passion Stella Canfield portrays in her watercolors.  Stella's art is filled with color, light and energy derived from her deep love for people and nature. She believes that art is a way of emotional communication and infuses her students' work with that energy and life. The class will explore design, color choices, different subjects and learn skills to call the "Muse" through daily demonstrations and discussions.
Students will spend the majority of the day working on subjects of their choice while getting continuous one-on-one feedback from Stella. Stella spends only three months on teaching in the USA.

WATERCOLOR: Rendering Glass & Crystal in Watercolor with Ann Breckon
Sunday & Monday, February 19th & 20th, 2012
From simple water glasses to complex cut crystal, there are many tricks that make all of them easy to paint. Ann will show exactly what is needed to make glass appear transparent, shiny and beautiful. Believable glass can be painted by everyone. Included will be projects for every skill level and easy to follow step-by-step demonstrations.

MONOTYPES: Intro to The Painterly Print with April Richardson
Sunday, February 26th, 2012
Experiment with this spontaneous and painterly method of printmaking combined with painting and collage to create mixed media artwork. Each monotype is a unique print, and the plate can be used over and over. Students will learn additive, subtractive, and drawing transfer techniques. Working with small plates, water-soluble inks, and a portable etching press, artists will explore the materials and tools to produce a series of monotypes. Beginning and experienced artists enjoy this medium.
